Introduction
Engineer Networking influences the technology strategy by aligning technical expertise and business needs to enhance IT service delivery. Proactively identify emerging technologies that will advance and secure the business. Coordinate and review IT projects in order to ensure they are secure and align with other IT initiatives. The role serves as a "go-to" technical resource and advisor who offers meaningful technical solutions, quickly resolves complex issues, and provides technical leadership. The Engineer Networking role is also responsible for the design, build, maintenance, and documentation of the network security infrastructure. This includes administration of Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Network Access Control (NAC), and Virtual Private Networks (VPN). They will work very closely with infrastructure operations teams to ensure that all necessary controls are in place to securely support the company's service offerings.
Job description

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
 
WAN Links
·       Management of the WAN Links
·       Regular communication with the providers of the WAN links
·       Ensure that unnecessary WAN links are cancelled
·       Ensure that WAN links are measured against provider SLA
·       Ensure that WAN bandwidth is appropriate to business needs
·       Ensure that WAN redundancy meets business expectations
·       Ensure that appropriate security is implemented on WAN links
·       Ensure that only appropriate protocols are allowed on WAN links
·       Ensure that an accurate WAN diagram exists
·       Create and / or regularly update a WAN connectivity procedure and policy, covering the requirements to add a new site to the WAN
 
Routers
·       Management of the Tracker-owned routers
·       Management of the suppliers of non-Tracker-owned routers
·       Ensure that only appropriate protocols are allowed on the routers
·       Ensure that appropriate security is implemented on the routers
·       Ensure that router redundancy meets business expectations
·       Ensure that router capacity is appropriate to business needs
·       Ensure that routers are monitored for appropriate measures
 
Switches (Wired and Wireless)
·       Management of the switches
·       Ensure that only appropriate protocols are allowed on the switches
·       Ensure that appropriate security is implemented on the switches
·       Ensure that switch redundancy meets business expectations
·       Ensure that switch capacity is appropriate to business needs
·       Ensure that switches are monitored for appropriate measures
·       Ensure that unused switch ports are un-patched
 
 Active Directory
·       Conduct regular reviews Active Directory and DNS Architecture
·       Conduct regular reviews of the Active Directory implementation
·       Ensure that procedures for adding, changing and removing resources from AD are being followed.
·       Ensure that access restrictions are regularly reviewed for completeness
·       Conduct regular reviews of Group Policy
·       Conduct regular reviews of Active Directory integration with other Microsoft domains

WAN Compression
·       Maintain and support WAN compression devices
·       Manage WAN compression device licenses
·       Manage WAN compression device support contracts
·       Configure, Install, Deploy WAN compression devices
 
Firewalls
·       Manage firewall support licensing
·       Manage Firewall Access Rules
·       Ensure appropriate Intrusion Prevention Measures are implemented (IPS)
·       Ensure appropriate Intrusion Detection Measures are implemented (IDS)
·       Ensure that weekly firewall security reports and reviewed and defined actions are implemented as necessary
·       Ensure Firewall configurations are backed up before and after each change
 
Anti-Virus
·       Create and / or regularly update an antivirus procedure and policy
·       Ensure compliance of all devices against the antivirus procedure and policy
 
Remote Connectivity / Access
·       Provide remote access to approved users
·       Revoke access from all 3rd party suppliers when not required

Minimum requirements

·       Relevant IT Networking and Security Certifications, plus appropriate Diploma.
·       Experience and product specific training.
·       5 Years’ Experience.
·       Willing to work extended hours.
·       Willing to travel.
